Church Libraries

Did you know that The Presbyterian Church in Morristown has four libraries?

  • The Library table in the Church Narthex

and in the Parish House:

  • The David C. Lawrence library (primarily a reference library)
  • The Young People's Library (Room 4), and
  • The Devotional Cart located in the entrance hall.

The libraries seek to provide quality materials for study and for spiritual growth of individuals including
Church Committees, Church School classes, Small Groups, Bible Study Groups and others.

Teaching and Preaching volumes, Bibles, Bible Commentaries, dictionaries and atlases are available.
In addition, current literature on topics of interest is available on a more limited basis, including non-fiction, fiction, magazine subscriptions, and DVD's of the Sunday services.

The books are shelved by call number under the Dewey System according to author and topic. A white loose-leaf folder containing a library catalog is displayed in the Lawrence Library and in the Children's Library. Books in the catalogs are listed by subject, author and title. An up to date listing and availability may be researched on the computer in the Lawrence Library. Instructions are posted next to the computer.

Borrowing a Book

Come by the Parish House to browse and borrow a book anytime during office hours on Monday-Friday using our self-check-out system. On Sunday, there is always a member of the Library Committee on-hand between services in the Narthex to assist you in selecting something interesting to read from the Library table in the Church Narthex. 

The check out process is very easy - just pull out the card from the front of the book; write your name, date and phone number on the card; drop the card in the blue basket that says "Check out Cards"; and go home and enjoy reading.  Return the book at your leisure... but please pick up another.

The Children's Library

The Children's Library is one of the gems of our church.  Located in Room 4 at the Parish House, it is a wonderful place for parents to meet their children after Midweek or come early to pick them up and browse through the books with younger brothers and sisters.  Or visit the library during Church School on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. The Children's Library contains books for infants through early teens that are sure to captivate and inspire a love of reading.

Small Group Ministry Shelf

Come check out the Small Group Ministry Shelf in our library. It contains the resources used by our small groups when they use material other than the Bible for study. Also included are selections of our BOOKS, BIBLE & BEYOND book group.
