After attending Tufts University in Boston and Eastern College in Philadelphia, David obtained his M.Div. at Princeton Theological Seminary.  During Seminary, David was very involved in Young Life and spent a life-transforming, year-long internship in Cape Town, South Africa.  Arriving the day after the elections, in the fall of 1989, David was serving in South Africa when F.W. De Klerk came into power, Nelson Mandela was released and the Apartheid laws were dismantled.  He was given the privilege of standing in the Cape Town City Square as Mandela delivered his release speech, and of working with Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu, the South African Council of Churches and a host of reconciliation ministries.  David previously served as the Associate for Youth, Children and Families at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Westlake Village, CA and as the Pastor of Singles and Church Life Ministries at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church in Houston, TX.  Married in 2002, David and Yvette fled the country for a 16 month honeymoon/fact finding/backpacking trip around the world, traveling to 45 countries, exploring the globe and meeting with various churches, missionaries and mission organizations before returning and taking on their new role here at the Presbyterian Church in Morristown.  David serves on the board of directors of African Enterprise, Newton Presbytery’s Nairobi Partnership Committee, is the co-president of the Morris Area Clergy Council and has done church consultation both nationally and internationally.  He has spoken around the US on issues concerning missions and globalization and has worked with numerous reconciliation organizations in countries such as Rwanda, Croatia, Northern Ireland and Israel/Palestine.  He has a strong passion for missions, loves to preach, has a deep interest in counseling and loves people.  In their free time, Dave and Yvette can be found traveling, kayaking, hiking, reading, attending a local kickboxing class or out in the woods with their golden retriever, Zanzibar.

The Reverend Robert J. Rogers
Interim Associate Pastor
Email

aWe are pleased to welcome the Reverend Robert Rogers as our new Interim Associate Pastor. Bob officially started with us on October 1 and will be focusing on Education and Membership, working closely with those committees on Session. Of course, he will have other involvement including leading Adult Education, Older Adult Ministries, Wednesday Noon Worship and pastoral care. Bob has experience in the Stephen Ministry, extensive mission experience and has been a chair of Committee on Ministry (COM) at the Presbytery level for many years.

Since beginning his ordained ministry in 1975, Bob has served as head of staff or associate pastor in four Presbyterian congregations in Pennsylvania. He started doing intentional interim ministry in 1997, serving in three Philadelphia area churches and just recently completed a 2½ year interim at First Church in Pitman, New Jersey. Along with his Bull Mastiff dog, Shiloh, he recently moved to Morris Plains. Bob has two children. His daughter, Megan, age 28, is a clinical social worker in Baltimore and works with traumatized foster children. Bob’s son, Chris, age 23, is completing his studies in Environmental Science at Ursinus College, located outside of Philadelphia. Listening to classical music or opera while reading a book or unwinding to soul or classic rock are several ways Bob likes to end his day. Of course, watching Comedy Central on the television is a late night requirement! Studying Jungian psychology, travel and tennis are some other interests. Since donating a kidney to another pastor friend in 2004, living donor organ donation is of particular concern, and Bob’s always willing to recruit others to participate in that amazing form of giving.
