After attending Tufts University in Boston and Eastern College in Philadelphia, David obtained his M.Div. at Princeton Theological Seminary. During Seminary, David was very involved in Young Life and spent a life-transforming, year-long internship in Cape Town, South Africa. Arriving the day after the elections, in the fall of 1989, David was serving in South Africa when F.W. De Klerk came into power, Nelson Mandela was released and the Apartheid laws were dismantled. He was given the privilege of standing in the Cape Town City Square as Mandela delivered his release speech, and of working with Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu, the South African Council of Churches and a host of reconciliation ministries. David previously served as the Associate for Youth, Children and Families at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Westlake Village, CA and as the Pastor of Singles and Church Life Ministries at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church in Houston, TX. Married in 2002, David and Yvette fled the country for a 16 month honeymoon/fact finding/backpacking trip around the world, traveling to 45 countries, exploring the globe and meeting with various churches, missionaries and mission organizations before returning and taking on their new role here at the Presbyterian Church in Morristown. David serves on the board of directors of African Enterprise, Newton Presbytery’s Nairobi Partnership Committee, is the co-president of the Morris Area Clergy Council and has done church consultation both nationally and internationally. He has spoken around the US on issues concerning missions and globalization and has worked with numerous reconciliation organizations in countries such as Rwanda, Croatia, Northern Ireland and Israel/Palestine. He has a strong passion for missions, loves to preach, has a deep interest in counseling and loves people. In their free time, Dave and Yvette can be found traveling, kayaking, hiking, reading, attending a local kickboxing class or out in the woods with their golden retriever, Zanzibar. |
The Reverend Cynthia J. Alloway

The
Reverend (Cindy) Alloway, ordained and installed in a special
Service at our church on May 13, 2006, became
the church's Associate Pastor effective May 1, 2006. In her role, Cindy leads our programs in pastoral care, community
outreach and mission, membership involvement and
fellowship and regularly participates in worship as
the primary liturgist and occasional preacher.
A graduate of the Princeton Theological Seminary, Cindy brings a
wealth of related experience to the job. She has led small
group ministries, taught Stephen ministry, developed two
parish nursing programs, and served as a pulpit supply pastor.
She has also worked as a parish nurse, a community health
counselor, a foster parent instructor, a therapist at a child
and adolescent sexual abuse center, and as a parish nurse. A
co-founder of the Foundation for Peace, Cindy continues her role
as a leader in this organization which serves communities in the
Dominican Republic and Haiti.
Cindy’s most
recent employment
was coordinator of Morris County’s Sexual Assault
Nurse Examiner Program, providing frontline counseling and care
to victims of sexual assault crimes.
Cindy is married to Dr. Ken Culver, a
physician/scientist at Novartis. They have three children: Ryan,
a medical student at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine;
Ian, a cadet at the US Coast Guard Academy; and Kathryn, at Randolph High School, who was confirmed at PCM.

The Reverend Robert J. Rogers
Interim Associate Pastor Email
We are pleased to welcome the Reverend Robert
Rogers as our new Interim Associate Pastor. Bob
officially started with us on October 1 and will be
focusing on Education and Membership, working
closely with those committees on Session. Of course,
he will have other involvement including leading Adult
Education, Older Adult Ministries, Wednesday Noon
Worship and pastoral care. Bob has experience in
the Stephen Ministry, extensive mission experience
and has been a chair of Committee on Ministry
(COM) at the Presbytery level for many years.
Since beginning his ordained ministry in 1975, Bob has served as head of staff or
associate pastor in four Presbyterian congregations in Pennsylvania. He started doing
intentional interim ministry in 1997, serving in three Philadelphia area churches and
just recently completed a 2½ year interim at First Church in Pitman, New Jersey.
Along with his Bull Mastiff dog, Shiloh, he recently moved to Morris Plains. Bob has
two children. His daughter, Megan, age 28, is a clinical social worker in Baltimore and
works with traumatized foster children. Bob’s son, Chris, age 23, is completing his
studies in Environmental Science at Ursinus College, located outside of Philadelphia.
Listening to classical music or opera while reading a book or unwinding to soul or
classic rock are several ways Bob likes to end his day. Of course, watching Comedy
Central on the television is a late night requirement! Studying Jungian psychology,
travel and tennis are some other interests. Since donating a kidney to another pastor
friend in 2004, living donor organ donation is of particular concern, and Bob’s always
willing to recruit others to participate in that amazing form of giving. |

Dr. James D. Hicks

James D. Hicks holds degrees in music from the Peabody Institute of Music of Johns Hopkins University, Yale University, and the University of Cincinnati. He has also studied at the Royal School of Church Music and is an associate of the American Guild of Organists. Dr. Hicks was appointed Director of Music at the Presbyterian Church in Morristown in 1985, and conducts nine of the church's vocal and handbell choirs, supervises and performs in the concert series, teaches classes in music and liturgy, and serves as organist. He oversaw the enhancement of the sanctuary's seventy-eight ranks, 3,370 pipes Austin organ in 1996, and recently recorded a compact disk of organ music by twentieth-century American composers released by the Pro Organo label in 2003. James D. Hicks is a composer of organ, piano, choral, and handbell music, and has performed as an organ recitalist throughout the US, Europe, and Australia. An avid hiker, Dr. Hicks hiked the New Jersey section of the Applachian Trail in the spring of 2003, and the New York section during 2004. He will embark on the Pennsylvania section in the spring of 2005. A competing bagpiper and collector of Celtic instruments, Jim lives in Morristown with his wife, Bonnie, and three children, Virginia, Matthew, and Daniel.

Julie Ramseyer oversees the musical education of our elementary and junior high members. As the Director of Children’s Music, she conducts three choirs, facilitates the music within the Christian Education curriculum, produces elementary and junior high musicals, and is an active member in the adult music life of the church.
Julie holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Michigan and lives in Randolph with her husband, Joel, and son, Ben, who attends Bucknell University. |

Joel Strom joined the Staff of the Church on November 13,
2005. Born and raised in Connecticut, Joel spent five years as
Youth Director of Grace Lutheran Church in La Grange, IL near
Chicago. Wishing to return to the East Coast, Joel responded to
our job listing and we feel he is an excellent fit, both
spiritually and culturally, with our church family. In his time at
Grace Lutheran, Joel developed a youth program from the ground up,
and left it thriving with over 150 involved participants. He has
hands-on experience creating and sustaining a junior and senior
high youth program, launching a senior high bible study, leading
mission trips and service projects, and coordinating adult
volunteers. |

Debbie became a part time staff member in May 2005. She promotes awareness within the congregation and outside public of what the church has to offer through publications, displays and media contact.
Debbie graduated from Wellesley College with a degree in mathematics. She lives in Morristown with her husband, Rick, twin daughters in college, Emily and Erin, and son, Peter, in high school. Debbie also works part time as administrator for the Whippany River Watershed Action Committee and is on the board of the Morris Educational Foundation (in support of the Morris School District). |

A native of Morris County, Mary Jo started working part-time in the church offices in the summer of 2001. She holds a BA degree (chemistry major) and a certification to teach chemistry at the secondary level from Rosemont College, Rosemont, PA, and an MBA in Pharmaceutical/Chemical Studies from Fairleigh Dickinson University. After college, Mary Jo worked in specialty chemical marketing and technical support to the domestic and international maritime industry. Mary Jo and her husband, Ken, have a high school aged son, David. Currently Mary Jo works full time in the front office at the Parish House, providing clerical support to the program and administrative staff.

Rix joined the church staff in 1996 after 28 years at Allied-Signal. He lives in Morristown with his wife Nancy. They have two grown daughters, Sara and Katie, and one grandson.
Rix’s responsibilities include Buildings and Grounds day to day activities and handling all financial aspects of the church. |

Beth has served as Director of Children’s Ministries since
2000. She was instrumental in developing the midweek ministry to children and youth. Beth eagerly anticipates each Wednesday when she has the privilege of meeting with children from kindergarten
through fifth grade for stories, service projects and
fellowship. Sunday morning church school is another highlight
of her week as she and our staff of teachers welcome children to
study, sing and worship together. Beth has a MA in education
with a specialty in counseling. She is currently enrolled in
the denomination’s Christian Education certification program.
Beth has also worked in public schools, colleges and business.
She has three children: Rachel who is at Rutgers University in
New Brunswick and Martha and Taylor who attend Morristown High
School. |

Katherine has been a part of our school in the past as a teacher and assistant director. She has taught in the Morris School District and Something Special Preschool and has also volunteered in numerous church, school and community programs.
Katherine has three children, two in college and one, a senior at Morristown High School. |

David has been sexton at the church since 1985. He and his wife, Anna, live in Howard House, next to the Church on the Green. David is responsible for keeping our buildings and grounds clean, setting up rooms for meetings and preparing the church for services. |

Milton began with us on July 9. He will be working in the Parish House on Saturdays and at the sanctuary every other Sunday morning. Milton lives in Kenvil with his wife and three daughters. We are pleased to have him join our staff. |
