Mission to Haiti and the DR

The Presbyterian Church in Morristown has been sending groups to the Dominican Republic and Haiti since 2007 with the Foundation for Peace.  Initially, the groups constructed a church near Santo Domingo in a community called Zumbon.  Subsequently, a school has been built behind the church.  Learn more, from the aqua box below, about the church and the construction of pews for this rapidly growing congregation. The project continues under the leadership of the Noroton Presbyterian Church in Darien, Connecticut.

In 2011, members and friends of The Presbyterian Church in Morristown began working on the border of the Dominican Republic (DR) and Haiti.  They initiated the construction of a school in Pedernales, DR and worked on the completion of a church across the border in Anse-a-pitre, Haiti.

In 2012, we sent mission teams to Haiti and the Dominican Republic in February and August.

For information about mission trips, please go to the Foundation for Peace website or email Ken.  Like thousands of others, you will find a FFP mission trip rewarding beyond words and the local people extraordinary. We guarantee you a sense of fulfillment in your life that will bring you back to serve with us again and again.

Building Pews for a Small Church in the DR

In 2007, a group from The Presbyterian Church in Morristown joined a mission trip with the Foundation for Peace to rebuild a little church in the Dominican Republic village called Zumbon. After returning home to Morristown, Bob and Jan Harris remembered the unstable old pews the little Zumbon church was still using in the new church building and realized how sad it would be for our brothers and sisters in Christ to have to sit on those splintered old pews. So they got to work, and gathered fine wood and recruited skilled caring carpenters from our beloved AAA group to create these blessed new pews that you see in the photos.

The new Zumbon church was dedicated, and the school and medical clinic are nearing completion. This little church is becoming a beacon of hope for the whole community! (See photo gallery below.)

Loading Supplies for Mission in August

Please help the Foundation for Peace load supplies for shipment to Haiti, Kenya and Dominican Republic!

We need people to organize, label and load donated items onto two 40-foot shipping containers.

FRIDAY, August 24 and SATURDAY, August 25

There is a little space left for donated items, but please check with us before bringing anything to be donated. We cannot accept items that are not already boxed and labeled on the outside with the contents (not numbered).

We will organize at Ken and Cindy's home at noon on Friday. We are loading at a new location in Denville on both days (afternoon on Friday and all day, starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday).  The storage facility is located at
