Vision of The Presbyterian Church in
Morristown, New Jersey
God has called us to be a Christ-centered people. Our life
and faith are rooted in the promises of God fulfilled in the life, death
and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Claimed by God's love in Christ,
we claim these promises for our lives, work and ministry. Guided by the
Holy Spirit, we carry out Christ's commission to make new disciples, upbuild
the church in love and serve Christ in all times, places and ways. Therefore,
we dutifully, reverently and joyfully affirm that:
* God speaks to us through the Bible in varied and relevant ways, and
God's direction and will for us are made known as we read, study, teach
and share in Scripture.
* The church is a fellowship of believers caring for and comforting each
other and ministering to all who enter.
* God calls the church to speak for and act with the poor, the weak, the
forgotten of our church, community and world.
* Within Christ's universal church, we are guided by our Presbyterian
heritage and committed to its traditions of confessing, worshiping, serving
and governing.
* God has given each of us gifts to be used for the common good.
* God calls us to speak and live for Christ, invite others to join us
in common ministry and nurture them in their journeys of faith.
* God is acting now in each of us; in the struggle to know and do what
is faithful, God's Spirit is felt and known.
* The future is always open; in new times, God calls the church to a new
response. The church is never finished in its work and mission. Praise
be to God!
