PRAYER OF CONFESSION (unison)

Gracious God, you overwhelm us with your mercy. You are always
stunning us with beauty, giving us ideas and friends when we are in need
of help. Yet we continue to be overly concerned with fairness, especially
when our interests are involved. We often approach faith as a series of
achievements and results.

God of grace, lessen our anxious striving and our critical gaze. Surprise
us once again with your free gifts of love and forgiveness. May we always
remember that your love shows no bounds and your grace is amazing. It
includes even us. O God, let us breathe deeply this day and experience
your presence and one another. In Christ’s name. Amen.
