PRAYER OF CONFESSION (unison)
We confess, O God, that we are not eager to wrestle
with difficult truth
or
to take responsibility for the sin in our lives. We have bent your
commandments to our own
conveniences. We listen only to the word
we want to hear. Under the guise of freedom, we participate in
the
greed that is destroying your good
earth, the neglect that allows evil to
triumph. Wake us up! Shake us into an awareness that brings
change
and lead us, we pray, on the
difficult path toward greater faithfulness to
this covenant you have written on our hearts. Amen.
