PRAYER OF CONFESSION (unison) Rev. Alloway
O God, we come asking for your mercy and forgiveness. Too often we take things into our own hands. We try to justify ourselves through good works rather than serving joyously and gratefully to honor you. We work hard to earn respect, build a reputation, forge our own identity; skeptically sidestepping the new identity you long to create in us. We know we are justified by faith, yet in insecure moments we fall back into trying to prove ourselves worthy. Save us from our lack of faith. Grant us peace, confidence, assurance and vision. Amen
