Virtual Sunday Morning Seminar

February 21 and 28

Rich in poetic imagery but slim in story matter, the psalms are not easy to illustrate. Yet medieval copies of psalm texts, lettered and embellished by hand, match words and pictures in surprising ways.

This two-part series examines a handful of manuscripts that bear witness to the imagination and devotion of scribes, artists and the praying faithful from the 9th century to the eve of the Reformation.

Virtual Fellowship Hr. Welcoming Leslie!

Join us via Zoom for a virtual fellowship hour welcoming our Interim Sr. Pastor, Rev. Leslie Dobbs-Allsopp!

Grace and peace to you!
I’m pleased to begin serving as your Interim Pastor and Head of Staff this week. This will be my 7th interim “gig”, and I look forward to meeting and serving with you, even if it is in the virtual world right now. It’s fitting to begin ministry together during the season of Epiphany, which begins with Jesus’ baptism and focuses on his incarnation and the beginning of his earthly ministry. Epiphany is the season of light, and the season of beginnings. As the leader of two presbyteries (Elizabeth and New Brunswick) I’ve been privileged to accompany 78 congregations as they have navigated these pandemic times. There is not a one size fits all pandemic response manual for churches! I assure you that you are not behind, and together we will continue to pursue faithful pandemic responses that honor God and care for neighbors. I hope you will call me Leslie or Pastor Leslie. I hope you will feel free to email or call me. In the meantime I’ll see you soon on Our Friend Zoom!

Jazz Sunday

On Sunday, November 8, hymns and songs of worship in the weekly service will be in style of Jazz.  Our “house” trio, Mark Weber, Bud Ayres, and our own Steve Hess, will be joined by saxophonist Anton Denner and trombonist Erick Storckman.  This service, which will be a hybrid of our current virtual services and our Jazz Vespers services, will feature a sermon by Rev. Sarah Green and music led by Dr. Matt Webb.  As usual, this service will be available online by 8am on November 8.  We hope that you will “tune in!”
